The Ashland Strawberry Faire is an exciting one day non-profit community event with an estimated 300 vendors; approximately 60% Arts and Crafts Vendors, 15% Non-Profit Booths, 15% Businesses, and 10% Other venues participate. The Faire has 20-30 great groups of entertainers donating their services on two stages all day long. There are wonderful food vendors ALL supporting various non-profits, lots of fun kids events, and an estimated 20- 40,000 people attend annually. Every year this ‘not for profit’ event supports our community by donating money for scholarships to all our high schools and to many other community services.

WHAT IS NEW IN 2012??

“ARTS AND CRAFT ALLEYS” – The Arts, Craft, and Non-profit vendors will be profiled on two full streets, (all of College Avenue to Henry Street and all of Henry Street from College to Patrick Street).
“SHOP LOCALLY” – Town of Ashland and Hanover County businesses may sell products, with an additional fee and if their products do not compete with the Arts and Crafts vendors in the show.
“ASHLAND ALLEY” – Enjoy a taste of Ashland businesses in one area of the Faire (Henry Street from the R-MC Welcome Center to College Avenue, across the street from the US Post Office). Watch for give a ways, coupons, and super sales!
“HANOVER HOME-SHOW” – Hanover businesses will be located in another large area of the Faire (E. Patrick Street by the R-MC gyms and fields). Look for great local entrepreneurs and friendly faces.
“ANTIQUE ROAD SHOW” – Discover many of our local antique vendors at our new satellite location in the parking lot of the “Ashland Town Center.” (Route 54, near the Ashland Police Station).
APRIL 15th APPLICATIONS DUE – An additional $25 processing fee will be added for all applications filled in after that date.
VENDOR ACCESS PASSES – Vendors will have access to the Faire grounds Friday after 12N until Saturday at 8am for set up, and then 5-7pm Saturday for clean-up. Access Passes will be e-mailed to vendors after May 1 with booth numbers, for vendors to print out and display on vehicles the day of the Faire. (Parking on or near campus is first come first serve, but it is usually pretty easy because the students are mostly gone!)
ENTERTAINERS – This non-profit event supports our community by scholarships to all our high schools and to many other community services. All the entertainers including bands, dance groups, and “Hanover Idols” at the Faire donate their time and services in support. If you or your group would like to participate please E-Mail us, we would love to hear from you!
TEMPORARY PARKING PASSES – Will be provided for all entertainers.
POLITICAL PARTIES/POLITICIANS – Due to our Corporation Status these groups cannot be categorized as “Non-profit status; therefore they can register as a business advertising and will be charged like fees.

Free parking with shuttle service to the faire at:

Hanover County School Board Offices and Gandy School (North end of Henry Street and Archie Canon Road).

Hanover Health Services Building (Intersection of US 1 and Ashcake Road.

St. Ann’s Catholic Church (100 block of S. Snead Street)

Henry Clay Elementary School (Corner of S. James Street and Hanover Avenue).

Several public parking areas are available and street parking where designated.

Food Vendors
8:00 Health Department inspections begin, please be ready as close to that time as possible, as they try to traverse the faire ground as quickly as possible so all will be able to sell at 10:00 when we open.

Recognition of Mary Claire Coster
12:30 Blackwell Stage – Dedication of the 30th Anniversary of the Ashland Strawberry Faire to Mary Claire Coster – for her 29 years of service to the Faire!
All family, friends, committee members, and please come at that time to give her a big thanks for the gift of her time and talents to this event: which has provided Hanover County students with thousands of dollars in scholarships;
has provided a yearly forum for over two hundred craft vendors, non-profit groups, and business;
and has provided a wonderful community event all to share with family and friends.

Strawberry Recipe Contest

A contest for the best strawberry food or drink item will be held. The general public is invited to participate -please no food vendors. Entries are to be brought to the Henry Clay Inn on June 4th between 9:30 and 10AM. Judging will be done by Homemades by Suzanne and cash prizes will be awarded. Winners will be announced at 11AM at the Blackwell stage.

In honor of this anniversary, we are asking past scholarship winners to write us a note and tell us how us how they used their Strawberry Faire scholarship and what they are doing now. New in 2011 – Vendors, Sign-up Online!

The Ashland Strawberry Committee is going GREEN with the Vendor Application Process. We encourage all of our Vendors to apply for a booth online, and to pay all fees online as well. We can even send your Parking Pass electronically if you provide an e-mail address! You may still print out an application and mail it in with your payment, and if you don’t have an e-mail address, we will continue to send Parking Passes in the mail (provided that you send in a stamped, self-addressed business-size envelope).

Please look over our new Vendor pages for helpful information specific to your booth category. And if you have any suggestions to make the process even smoother, please let us know!
